Rehousing connects the homeless population to temporary and permanent housing through the provision of time. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services administers The Lotus, and the non-profit provider Home at Last is the lead operator. LAHSA Homeless Engagement Teams will work within a multi-disciplinary outreach team to find and support unsheltered homeless residents on Skid Row to move into The Lotus. Access to employment and education services can help break the cycle of poverty and homelessness, providing opportunities for greater economic stability and improved quality of life.
To comply with COVID-19 protocols and maintain social distancing, only 78 beds will be made available to people experiencing homelessness. Programs, like ours, that adopt a non-institutional approach to homeless services have been found to be the most successful in reaching, engaging and changing the lives of homeless women. Home At Last has successfully maintained Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Rehousing services (now called Rapid Rehousing), Temporary and Permanent housing services to Transitional Aged Youth as well as single adults and families.
